Hi, my name is Baba and I am just the sweetest boy ever!

I came to Misty Creek in the middle of March 2011 with my brothers and sisters. I am a 9 month old Australian Shepard cross. Currently I weigh around 50 pounds, but I have tons of beautiful fur that appears to add an extra 10 pounds.

I tend to be more of the submissive type, but recently I discovered that I don’t need to be a shy boy all the time. I have gained lots of confidence and I am ready to face the world! I have lots of foster doggy cousins and I love to play. I would be great in a home with or without another dog.

My foster sister Rosie has taught me how to play nice. I used to nip her ears when I wanted to play, but she didn’t like that much. Now I give her gentle licks to ask her to play.

I have learned to walk on leash really well, and in due time with practice I would be a great off-leash dog too. The thing is, my prey drive is pretty high with squirrels and birds, so I am unsure about this off-leash thing right now, as well as living in a household with a cat resident. I am learning to curb my natural instinct to hunt and herd, so I will keep you posted on my progress with that.
I have almost mastered my toilet training. I know it’s been about a month, but it’s been really hard learning how to hold it, especially when you are an apartment doggie dweller. So, in reality folks, I’m doing pretty good! Guess what? I am crate trained, and I am soooo good at it! While I don’t choose to hang out in my crate when my foster mom is home, I have no problems sleeping the day away in it when she is gone.
I can be super playful and cuddly, but I also like to chill out, chew on a bone, or just sit and watch my foster mom cook (I have tried begging for her food; she won’t give me any so I have resorted to giving her puppy dog eyes from across the room).

Sometimes my foster mom calls me Baba Black Sheep, like when I accidentally chewed her comforter instead of my toy; when I put my paws up on the counter to see if I can reach my treats, and let’s not forget the time when I chewed up the handle on my leash. But those incidents are few and, hey, I’m still a puppy and I’m still learning!
I am an amazing boy, and I promise to make a fantastic pet in your home! I am super happy and loving but not too needy. And most of all I am always smiling.
